Trip to the museum

On the 16th of September tumu hub went to a Museum, we were there for the whole school day and everything we saw there was very beautiful and interesting. We heard a story about this Maori Green stone keeper and a Sandstone keeping about how they always used to fight each other and the Green stone keeper fell in love. So then Anthony gave us some time to have a look around in the room we were in and it showed the flightless bird and some people from 500 or 400 years ago catching them and cooking them. after we went into another part of the museum, and this time Anthony explained to us how the Maori language was never a written language but just an oral language. After he explained he let us examine the room we were in, Then he took us to this cool room where we got to do some activities like trying to start a fire with tool that the people used 500 or 600 years ago and the axe and some more!!  Please check out the photos of the Museum down bellow.

After learning new things about the Maori culture we got to look around the museum and watch a mini movie.

What things do you know about the Maori Culture?

O Le Malaga Fa'a'atua- The Journey Of The Gods

This morning, My hub and the kaupeka hub watched a play. It was called O Le Malaga Fa'A'atua or in English translation The Journey Of The Gods. The actors that did the play for us were Thalia, Jake, and Manu. The story is about an eel that turned into a coconut tree, Involving the most famous...MAUI. It was very funny and definitely a memory im pretty sure the whole tumu and kaupeka hub won't forget. Sadly we don't have any photos of the play because no photos were allowed to be taken, I'd like to give Thalia, Jake, and Manu a rally big thanks for coming to St Francis Of Assisi school and performing your play. I really enjoyed it and loved the part of where you were all making fun of Maui.

If you have seen them come to your school, what would your favourite part be?

Winter Sports

This year during the term we have been doing winter sports on Thursdays .
The winter sports I do is Hockey, with my team players Benjamin, Charlie G, Lily F, Dakota, Oliver, Jack, Samantha, Gianna, and Me! We are the hockey A team aka The Cheetahs. My team won every hockey game we have played but we had a draw with Hillview school and we lost one game to,  I'm thinking their name was Selwyn house. We lost by 9-8,oh right Charlie was not able to play with us during our game because he offered to play for the Hockey b team but anyways at least during our game we tried. This year I improved on my Passes and on my defence during our games. we versed b teams half the season but then we started going up into higher groups like other hockey A teams.

Fun with LEGO!

Yesterday on Monday, my hub and I created cars, a bridge and the tallest tower with Lego. for the cars we had to see how far it would go using a ramp everyone's turned out good, next we went to build a bridge. We would make a bridge to see if it was stable enough to have a book on it I built a bridge with my two friends Gianna and Samantha. Our's was stable to balance between the two tables we used but not balanced enough to have a book on it. Last but not least, The tallest tower. This Lego creation wasn't too hard just the making it tall. Again I did it with my friends Gianna and Samantha, At the end we all had fun this is the end of my blog, Please help yourself to see the photos I have down below

Which Lego creation would you want to build?
The car, Bridge or The Tallest tower.

Help Save Our Environment!

In reading this term we have been reading about the environment. I have enjoyed reading this book called "People and the Planet" my group and I got to choose a book for reading and got information from it.

Please see my slide below to see the key points from this book. This shows everything that I have read and understood.

This book relates to our PBL because it is about pollution and how we are hurting animals.

Race to win it

Yesterday on Thursday it was cross country. My whole school walked to Walter park it was kinda cold but not really. When we arrived to Walter park the year 3/4 ran first then 1/2 and then us the year 5/6. The year 5 girls and boys ran first and then the year 6 girls and boys ran after we all had to do 2 whole laps around the park with some of the year 7/8 cheering us on. We finished our first lap now onto the second, After our second lap we stopped and I just collapsed to the ground and was out of breath after a few minutes I was drinking some water and we went back to school.

How many laps would you rather do for cross country?
